Hi there folks!
Recently, I got an opportunity to host Navi Mumbai Salesforce User Group meetup. Being focused towards providing an amazing breakthrough on Lightning Experience, we were fortunate enough to be joined by developers, PMs and Service Executives from Salesforce.com’s customers across the city. Sounds like a perfect eve right?
Well, that’s not all! One of the important events within this meetup was Fireside chat with Vinod Birla, moderated by myself. Vinod not only came with real-time experience in consulting Salesforce.com customers to migrate to LEX, but also had helped AppExchange partners to get their products Lightning Ready!
Excited to know what would have been covered in this? So here I am to share some prominent Q&As that provides some insight on Lightning adoption; covering some user experiences and thought processes.
Q – What should be the rollout strategy to migrate from Classic to LEX? Salesforce have customers who are using Classic from decades, with thousands of Users per client. Won’t it be difficult for them to change this?
A – Target departments with young employees. Young employees usually have higher energy who will learn and grasp things easily. Don’t roll out entire organization in a day, divide the employees in 3-4 parts and roll out for each department per quarter. It will avoid panic situation and you will be able to evaluate training strategy depending on your experience. Meanwhile, there are few Lightning Experience Trailhead modules/badges which your team can get started.
Q – What if a Salesforce customer don’t want to spend time and money on LEX? Is there any risk if they continue with Classic?
A – Yes, absolutely. Have you used MS DOS? So when Windows was introduced, are you happy to change? NO. But now after so many years you must be saying thanks to Windows. It has made everything easy than MS DOS. Similarly, Lightning Experience has many features which will increase productivity of Users. Salesforce announces new features in each release and most of the recent releases are getting enabled in LEX first or only in LEX. So, you may miss few of these features if you continue to use Classic.
Q – Okay, we are convinced. But we also need to convince our investors who will ask ROI, as it will take time on training, and time is equivalent to money. So how you will convince them on returns from this investment?
A – Just take an example of global search in Classic vs LEX. It will take just 3 clicks vs 5 mouse clicks in Classic, which is almost 200% increase in the productivity. And just like global search there are many features in LEX which will increase speed of Users and Application.
Q – Okay, that sounds good. Which is your favorite feature of LEX?
A – Easily customizable, component based structure! Lightning app builder help admin to design pages as per their need, without writing single line of code. They can add multiple components and keep it on single screen with just drag and drop. They can also create different variations of same page for different Users. They can also add these components on any record detail or list view page or homepage to make it more productive.
Well, that’s a wrap!
Hopefully this sets a stage for you to initiate conversations with your customers or stakeholders on migrating to LEX. No, do you have any other questions or concerns? Are you a customer who is keen to know more about Lightning Experience?
Please feel free to comment and ask . Our expert team would love to help you!
